4 men’s fashion trends for Spring/Summer 2023
Fresh, formal but relaxed, the men’s collections for summer 2023 mark a turning point after years of comfortwear. The desire to go out is back, and with it the desire to show off new trends, which see men moving further and further away from the archetypes of masculine and feminine, revisiting leather centaur looks in a mini version and making shapes and cuts more and more no-gender. Here are 4 macro trends to take inspiration from to create the new trend looks of the season.
Total denim – Denim is declined in all possible items, including coats and boots, as in Prada’s total looks or those seen at Dolce & Gabbana, made by salvaging old jeans seen. In particular, we are witnessing a return of faded, dirty and worn jeans.
Cow Boy Couture – The cowboy theme fits perfectly into the macro trend of the season, marked by a return to a certain art of dressing. With boots, wide-brimmed hats, embroidered fringes, and the fashionable return of the ‘chaps’, which excited the imagination of designers and others. These overpants, which cowboys wear over jeans to protect them, next summer will be worn revealing sexy underwear like Thom Browne’s braided and frayed ones.
Leather hot pants – Shortie shorts in a slightly retro format have now become a major trend. What’s new is that next summer you will need one in black leather. Prada has built almost its entire collection around this garment, offering mini shorts with double zips. At Walter Van Beirendonck, it is made with thick stripes.
Tank Tops – Another strong trend of the season will undoubtedly be the tank top, a garment that Donatella Versace is declining in various versions. And so does Kim Jones for Dior. Anthony Vaccarello for Saint Laurent creates a sleeveless shirt version with a bow, giving sinuosity to the minimal silhouette. Rick Owens, on the other hand, overlaps the over tank top with a harness that tightens over the pectorals and emphasises them.
